What Is Pilates?

Pilates is a safe and sensible exercise system. It teaches body awareness, good posture, as well as improving flexibility and agility. It is also helpful with back pain; the precision and correction of movement patterns make Pilates invaluable for anyone with an injury. The adaptability of Pilates makes it possible for any age or ability to benefit. In Pilates, quality of movement is valued over quantity of repetitions.
Body control Pilates is medically approved. Exercises are based around eight principles, which are:
  1. Relaxation
  2. Co-ordination
  3. Alignment
  4. Stamina
  5. Concentration
  6. Centring
  7. Breathing
  8. Flowing movements
By working on deep structure of the body, core stability is achieved, and your body awareness is improved. Pilates is for everybody, regardless of fitness – in particular, it is safe for those with back problems.
